COURLAND BEACH, TOBAGO RETURNED TO ITS PRISTINE CONDITION

October 6th 2011 - COURLAND BEACH, TOBAGO RETURNED TO ITS PRISTINE CONDITION

On Saturday October 1 2011, Courland Beach, Black Rock, Tobago, benefitted from the International Coastal Cleanup exercise, the focus of which over the past weeks has been to achieve clean oceans and waterways throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

Over sixty volunteers comprising members of staff, their friends and families from Digicel, T&TEC, Maritime Insurance and the Tobago Football Association were split into teams of eight to clean up the beach and compete for prizes compliments of Digicel.   Participants dressed in their Digicel-supplied T-shirts, gloves and garbage bags searched the length and breadth of the beach to rid it of paper, bottles and other types of garbage.

In all, 1,800 pounds of garbage was collected with the winning team taking home a lovely Digicel hamper for their efforts.

At the end of the exercise volunteers sat back, relaxed and cooled down with light refreshments and drinks and took in the beauty of a clean and pristine Courland Beach, achieved through a day of hard work, camaraderie and fun.
